The commencement of our 2024 school year was celebrated on Friday with a whole school assembly.
Principal Mark Brockhus discussed our 2024 Strenna: “The Dream that makes you Dream – A heart that transforms ‘wolves’ into ‘lambs'”. It celebrates the 200th anniversary of a significant dream which Don Bosco had at the age of 9. This particular dream helped to shape his life and mission, a work which continues today in our Salesian schools and communities.
The assembly was focused on welcoming new students, introducing our new student leadership and celebrating the achievements of our recent school leavers. The 2023 College VCE Dux, Kaela Azzopardi, shared valuable tips on how to survive and thrive in year 12. Memorably she noted the positive impact that keeping a balanced social life and leaning on peers had on her academic achievements.
Father Frank Moloney extended his welcome and delivered a blessing to our newest staff and students during his address. This was his first as College Rector after being appointed on Don Bosco's Feast Day at the end of January. We at Salesian strive to be a college that welcomes and so we encourage students and staff once more to keep an eye out for fresh faces, and to go the extra mile to welcome them to our community.
We can't wait for a big year ahead, as we strive forward in 2024.
